CAST OBITUARIES
FIONA
REVILL - "TAMMY LANCASTER"
Prior to her untimely demise, Fiona had severely enjoyed
her time working with the Lovestruck cast and crew, and had found them
to be beautifully trained. She was very much anticipating her final year in the
acting program at Douglas College (an institution she attended on full
scholarship due to her so-called 'skills') this fall. She would have liked to
thank everyone involved in this production, but unfortunately passed away in a
barn under
mysterious circumstances.
WIL
CARLOS - "VICTOR CRANCY"
Before disappearing without a trace into the woods, Wil
Carlos was very happy to have the chance to work on a show as fun as
Lovestruck, with a great cast, generous crew, and that funny director guy
who laughed so much during rehearsal! Wil's previous Experience with tonight's
subject matter included being a nerd in high school, loving corny humour and
enjoying the word 'Necronomicon', as well as crazy-men in asylums. Wil has been
pronounced dead and his assets divided by family members.
JOANNA
RANNELLI - "MARGE MILDEW"
Before the tragic kayaking accident that took her from us,
Joanna was a recent graduate of the BFA Acting Program at UBC. Credits at UBC
included: Yvette in Mother Courage, Bella/Eleanor in Big Love,
Lois in Life After God, Sandra in Beautiful Thing, Lucio in
Measure for Measure, Duchess in King Richard and His Women,
Susie in Bringing it all Back Home and Parlormaid in La Ronde.
Joanna was thrilled to be playing Marge in Lovestruck. She would have
liked to thank Gord and Andrey, as well as the cast and crew for their hard work
and dedication. Joanna also wanted to thank her father for his love and support.
MICHAEL
COPE - "WILL WHITMAN"
Until his private jet beelined into the ocean, Michael Cope
was thrilled to join Enlightenment and this fantastic cast as Whitman in
Lovestruck. Previous credits included: Holloman (Lawrence + Holloman),
Tybalt/Lear/Macbeth/Claudius (Shakedown Shakespeare) [Theatreworks],
Victor (Frankenstein), Bianca (Taming of the Shrew), Norris (Spectre)
[Douglas College], Henry/Horatio (Actor's Nightmare)
[Stray Cats], Tranio (Taming of the Shrew), Paul (Kiss Me Kate)
[Showcase], Hawking (Simple Machines) [Up in the Air]. Michael
was a graduate of the Douglas Acting Program and concurrently enrolled in the
UBC BFA. He wanted to thank the cast for all the good times, but the sea
swallowed him up before he could.
ASLAM
HUSAIN - "RATS"
Before his gruesome decapitation, Aslam had one more year
to go in UBC's BFA program before being "launched into the fray". He was also
insanely happy to be playing another lunatic, this time alongside the brilliant
and hilarious cast of
Lovestruck. It had been a pleasure! Past favourite
roles included: The Madman in
Diary of a Madman
directed by David Savoy, Billy Bibbit in
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
directed by Judy Treloar, Charly in
Flowers for Algernon
directed by Valerie Chatterton, and Jack in
Sorry Now
directed by Joanna Garfinkel. Aslam is not mourned.
JAMES
SIMPSON - "JIM"
Before his brains were jettisoned from his cranium in a
hypnotic kaleidoscope of color, James Simpson was ecstatic to be working in his
first Enlightenment Theatre Production. His previous credits included the
Douglas College productions Frankenstein, and The Taming of the
Shrew, as well as the critically acclaimed, world-famous Earl Marriott
Secondary School version of Les Miserables. James lived in the
Vancouver area and enjoyed doing theatre, improv, and film. He is succeeded by
his 12 children.
ANDREY
SUMMERS - "ANDY"
Andrey was actually born dead. Despite this, he has been
residing, writing and occasionally acting in the Vancouver area since 1998.
Writing work includes the one-act plays Rental Illness and Pigeons
on a Seedbag, as well as the English translation of the Russian novel
Arponis. He is also a columnist for the Surrey/Delta/White Rock NOW
Newspaper, and frequent contributor to the
www.thatchickensite.com comedy
podcast. Andrey also wrote this play, which might explain why he gets to act in
it. Or it might not.
Directed by Gord Myren
